LACH: THE DAY I WENT INSANE

The Day Went Insane is the debut solo comedy show from New York City’s living legend Lach (pronounced Latch). He founded the Antifolk art and music movement, which is cited as a main inspiration by hundreds of performers including Beck, Jeffrey Lewis, Michelle Shocked, The Moldy Peaches, Regina Spektor, Laura Marling, and Noah And The Whale. His admirers, often spotted at his shows include well-known Manhattan residents Meryl Streep, Liv Tyler, Nicholas Cage and Tony Bennet.

Expect great songs, stories and jokes.

“Lach is the mastermind of Antifolk like a Lower East Side rendezvous of Bob Dylan and Patti Smith. Like black snow, stalled subway cars and random violence, Lach is a Manhattan institution.”- NY Times

“Lach – one of the originators, and one of the sharpest arrows of the New York Antifolk scene. A Lach show is rarely less than a face-ache funny, beat-punk-unplugged joy, and likely to send you home with several favourite new songs”- The Guardian

“Lach is NYC’s living legend, riotously catchy!”-Timeout

Lach’s Antihoot is co-production between Dabster and Gilded Balloon.
Producer Richard Melvin (5Live, Radio Scotland, The Guardian) discovered Lach when he was in New York making a programme for BBC Radio Scotland. They met, they chatted, and they laughed. He says: “When I first saw Lach perform in the East Village in New York, I was struck by how funny he was! He’s got anecdotes, jokes, revelations and hundreds of great songs, perfect for a show in Edinburgh!”
